Every Gamer Has a Comfort Game

Mine just happens to be one where skeletons try to murder me and strangers chase me across the sea for fun. ☠️🏴‍☠️

Sea of Thieves isn’t just a game. It’s my game.
It’s the one I always come back to.
It feels like home. Salted and sunburned and chaotic—but home.

I used to play it with my ex-husband, slooping across calm waters when the seas were quieter and I had room to learn. I wasn’t a PvP god or a cracked shot—I was just a girl who loved pirates, sailing, and the dream of someday becoming Pirate Legend.

Setting Sail Day One

Back then, it was a grind. A real one. We had to earn it.
But I didn’t mind. I liked island-hopping. I liked the Tall Tales (when we weren’t constantly murdered mid-mission). And I really liked snapping in-game photos—call me a pirateographer. 📸🏝️

Building Crews and Legends

When Hungering Deep dropped, we picked up two randoms—an English guy and a Swedish guy—and crewed up on a galleon.
I was the Captain, naturally. 💁‍♀️
We fought monsters, shared laughs, and for a brief moment, the sea felt endless.

Then in 2020, when the world shut down, our real-life friends joined the fun. It became our way to stay connected.
We were all stuck inside. So we sailed.
They became Pirate Legends in one double XP weekend. I was both proud and wildly annoyed. 😅

Ghost Stories of the Sea

I still carry the memories:

  • The time he hid on the back of a galleon while I trailed quietly behind. He tossed loot off, I scooped it up, and we made off with a haul like legends—until he got caught and I had to bolt.
  • The night we scraped through Fort of the Damned only to get wiped by campers and lose everything. 💀
  • The rage quit so hard I swear my soul left my body.

Every pirate has their ghost stories. These are mine.

Companions on Deck

Eventually, pets were added.
I got a dog and named it Jasper, after my Husky (RIP).
A parrot named Skittles, after our green-cheek conure.
Later, I added Rose, Dave’s German Shepherd.
They sail with me now. Always. 🐶🦜❤️

We used to take turns decorating the ship.
Silly sails. Stealthy sails. Ghostly sails.
Balance, right?

Why I Still Return

Through every update, every betrayal, every storm—I keep coming back.

Because no matter what else changes in life, Sea of Thieves still feels like mine.
It’s the only place I can be a legend. A captain. A rogue. A photographer.

It’s the sea I run to when I need to feel brave again.

And honestly?
There’s no better feeling than raising the anchor, hoisting the sails, and hearing that music swell.
Let the horizon come. I’m home. 🧡🌅

🎶 The sea has its daughters too.
My song “Daughters of Anne” takes its name from Anne Bonny—the infamous pirate who carved her legend into the waves. It’s a ballad for the rebels and the runaways, for every woman who chose freedom over silence. She was wild, unyielding, and unapologetic—and her story still reminds me that sometimes defiance is the only compass worth following.
