There’s something sacred—borderline alchemical—about women who step up to a mic and unleash something primal. The kind of vocals that rattle ribs, resurrect teenage fire, and remind you you’re not losing your mind…just finally hearing it echoed back.
1. Halestorm: My North Star of Noise

Halestorm quietly climbed their way into my #1 slot back in 2018 when Vicious dropped…and then never gave it back. There isn’t a single song of theirs I skip. Lzzy Hale is a full-body exorcism in a human suit—a powerhouse who screams, belts, whispers, and shreds with the exact ferocity I wish I had at 16.
They’re also the band I’ve seen live the most (if we’re not counting the local acts that basically raised me). Every show feels like communion. Loud. Sweaty. Holy.
2. In This Moment: My Ritual Rage Therapy

The battle for second place is basically a cage match between In This Moment and Evanescence, but In This Moment wins this round purely because I’m currently an Angry Girl™ and their music hits that nerve like a tuning fork.
Maria Brink is a spectacle—witch priestess meets metal siren—and the theatrics alone could summon a storm.
3. Evanescence: My First Haunting

Amy Lee and I started our situationship back in 2004, and it’s been a lifetime contract ever since. Even though the newer releases don’t hit me the way the old ones did, Evanescence still feels like ghost-ink running through my musical DNA.
You never really “grow out” of a band that dragged you through adolescence by the throat.
4. The Pretty Reckless: My Long-Distance Relationship

Taylor Momsen is another absolute vocal inferno. I love everything this band releases…but they’re lower on the list right now simply because they’ve been touring more than dropping new music, and I haven’t been able to see them live in ages.
Which is rude, honestly. A coven girl has needs.
5. Pink: The Wildcard Witch We All Need
Pink has been in my orbit forever, and she’s never missed. She’s bold, grounded, emotionally intelligent, and will call out an entire stadium while doing aerial silks.
Right now she’s in heavy rotation because…well…I’m divorcing again.
So So What stays on repeat like it’s paying rent.
This Is My Ghoul Squad
These women are the ones I turn to when I need to scream, cry, resurrect myself, or burn my life down and rebuild. Their voices are the soundtrack to my childhood, my heartbreaks, my healing, and every version of myself I’ve molted through.
And yes—any I haven’t covered yet will get their own full Music Monday spotlight later.
